At the beginning of my children's book Tiger Dreams, there is a scene where a bird discovers his attraction to the cat next door. The idea was to redraw the scene in a style that is intended for adults and can also be a little dark and eery. - One glance through the window and the carpet is pulled out from under the bird's feet.
In Tiger Dreams, I tried to find a warm and light-hearted undertone, carried by a fundamentally optimistic spirit that shapes both the imagery and the flow of the storyline. In this light, I found it exciting to see what would happen to the story if its unwavering positivity were to be removed.
The pictures were drawn for the magazine of the Literaturhaus Stuttgart, where a reading of Tiger Dreams will take place in May 2025.
